Soundwave – he was really shifty and had the backup of all his cassetes. I still have heaps of the toys including Prime, Thrust, Starscream, Dirge, Astrotrain and Thundercracker in their original boxes! As well as all 5 Dinobots in mint condition!. . . . Yes – Im aware of my nerd status. lol
I don't expect to get "Best Answer" given your bias towards Prime, but my favorite Transformer is Mirage because he (sorry, it's difficult for me not to personalize him) is the first Transformer toy I ever owned. I received him as a Christmas gift in 1984 from my parents and I was so thrilled I couldn't contain my enthusiasm. My mom and dad had completely surprised me. We weren't rich and my parents rarely ever got my siblings and me what we wanted on such occasions; we usually got clothes. But they had fooled us so thoroughly that I think we all felt a bit flummoxed; my brothers got Bluestreak and Sideswipe respectively that Christmas. I remember carefully reading all the included literature before I transformed Mirage. Then I meticulously applied the decals to him with tweezers so that I wouldn't muss up the adhesive. Of course, I still have my generation one Mirage and he stands on the corner edge of a small bookcase above my home workstation. Yes, he shows a little wear, but he's in otherwise good condition. I can't properly explain how the Transformers toy franchise and the cartoon influenced me. What a great toy! Thank you for your question and the memories it rekindled in me!

My favorite was Jazz. He was an autobot who could transform into a Porche, and he was the coolest Transformer of them all.
Optimus Prime without a doubt. But since he will be the overwhelming favorite. Grimlock is my 2nd favorite.
